TRACI MARIE LEE is a graduate of the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, D.C., with a BFA in Fine Art Photography, and completed a Master of Fine Art in Photography and Integrated Media from Lesley University's College of Art and Design in Cambridge, MA. She is also the Owner and Creative Director of TM CREATIVE, LLC.

I went to art school on impulse – an intense love for the medium and the knowledge that I couldn’t get away from it. What I found out was how I approach and see the world, and why. In my fine-art work I am interested in the implications and the consequences of the Snapshot and the Constructed Image on memory construction and preservation. What do we ourselves project and interpret into memory, how we simultaneously influence other’s accounts, and how the photograph has a lead role in those investigations. As I dove into, not only my love of photography, but my need for it - I became aware of an obsessive drive to collect. Collecting moments, imagery, colors I may never see again, how the light falls in an exact space and at an exact moment in time. I was a collector and a curator, and the camera is vital in that endeavor.

Photographing the beginning of love and weddings, is a particular honor when it comes to memory preservation – it’s the one, singular day and unique stage in your relationship, that you never want to forget and can never be repeated. It needs to be collected; it needs preservation; it needs - images.

One of the most valuable things I walked away with from the fine art school experience was the realization that I am a bit of a purist when it comes to photography. This means that I will - use natural light as much as possible, flaunting every last drop of that luscious light; utilize and preference the candid and natural setting; and let you radiate in the photographs. (This also means that film is always an option if you so desire. Viva la film!)

The other side of being a collector, is the curation process. Although I do preference the candid, natural setting - I am no stranger to emphasizing and arranging, if you will, a moment.

As your wedding photographer, it is my duty to collect, preserve, and curate your love and wedding experience. Shall we begin?

Thread Photography’s focus is Fine Art Weddings – bringing wedding photography to the fine art level, welding together a documentary style with a fine art background and eye. There are millions of tiny elements that work together to unfold your special day – that’s how I approach photography. Any minute detail can be exquisite – you just have to be paying attention.
